As a Police Cadet, you will be an integral part of our Waite Park Police department team, undergoing comprehensive training to prepare for a rewarding career in policing. This is a full-time temporary position within the Waite Park Police Department. This position requires the employee to complete an approved law enforcement program at an accredited college of the employer's choice. The program will require the attendance of 40 hours a week of college course work and training. After successful completion of the law enforcement schooling and training, the Police Cadet will be transferred to a full-time position as a licensed Police Officer (depending on final approval by the council).

Qualifications:

Eligible candidates must have a 2-year or 4-year degree from a regionally accredited institution in any discipline prior to their appointment to the Police Cadet Position. No prior law enforcement experience is necessary, but candidates must have a strong interest in pursuing a career in policing.

Salary and Benefits:

• Starting pay as a Police Cadet is $25.30/hour or $52,640.25/year (After the completion of the Intensive Comprehensive Peace Officer Education and Training Program (ICPOET) and approved hire to a full-time position as a licensed Police Officer starting at $33.45/hour or 69,583.23/year.)
